St. Francis Business
Students participate in Marquette
Competition
For the third year in a row, St. Francis
High School was invited to compete in the
Marquette University Business Case Competition.
This year's participants, under the direction of
business teacher, Mike Lynch, were: Zack Clark,
Katie French, Steve Howe, Mark Schmitt and Jack
Spangler. The day was a great opportunity for the
students to compete against 40 other schools from
the entire midwest and to experience solving a
case involving the U.S. Auto Industry. After the
competition, all participants attended the
Marquette vs. DePaul basketball
game.

Notes from the
Wellness Office
The Dupage County Health
Department has received report s of five suspected
outbreaks of norovirus in local assisted living
and long-term care facilities. Outbreaks of this
type of viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu) are
not uncommon in schools, childcare facilities and
among athletic teams, especially during the winter
months.
Norovirus Infection can cause
abdominal pain and nausea followed by vomiting and
diarrhea approximately 24-48 hours after exposure.
Either vomiting or diarrhea can be present alone.
Symptoms typically resolve in a few days without
treatment. Norovirus infection result from person
to person spread or from consumption of
contaminated food, ice and drinks. The virus is
easily transmitted person to person (fecal oral
route) and can rapidly result in many people being
affected. Contact your healthcare provider if your
symptoms are severe.
The single most important thing
we all can do is frequent and thorough
handwashing. Students should avoid contact
sports if they have an acute case of
gastroenteritis. Click here for more
information on Norovirus. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/norovirus/DS00942 |
